X reduce that problem, I use the flux , even if I think x little experience , the pond tends to thicken by combining the pin, so I have to review so many times...Originally Written by Already

As soon as I can place the chip that I hand welded. However, the important things are:
-clean the 2 surfaces (Chip to base)
-center the component and solder at least 2 pin (the extreme ones)
-start soldering all the pins by heating 2 parts and add after the pond (wrapped for welding nasty use the balls of the pond that I use for the reballing)
-in the case of the union of the 2-pin the braid, taking care to get the soldering iron hot and the braid clean.

amtech for the flux... I am fine ... for the braid instead of a socket on ebay... 1.20€ each... up to now no problems
