I I insert I in the discussion because I am interested, years ago I mappai the point multijet 1.3 closed the Erg using a galletto clone 1260 resulted in 1080,reached my goal for various reasons of force majeure I abandoned the remapping.Today, I am in your same situation, I would like to start again and not to stop more ,from what I understand the kess clone is a good tool for those who start the problem is to find a good clone.

If as I think your series 1 is mounted on a edc16 on which it is almost imperative to have a backup in bdm, I recommend you a nice "chicken " which, besides that in the obd even in the bdm. Let's say that compared to another on the car before 2010 is the most complete

The backup in bdm consists in the remove the ecu from the car, open it, being careful not to ruin it (you'll find several tutorials on the tube) and connect to the port the bdm port for reading and writing. Recommended purchase even with a template, with schedule to spring for not having to solder directly on the ecu that is always a risk.

That sw there + damos (not domus) is used for remapping once you read the file from the ecu. Serial-to-bdm (not all ecu's have this port) there is a lot of difference. In serial usually it only reads the flash where there is the engine management (and in some of the ecu's not even all of it) , while in bdm do a total read not only of flash but also of the eeprom and the micro.
Keep in mind that in some cars if you don't have the file read in bdm, but don't take even luca stanca and egr off complete
