The software is not asked you to remove any fuse? I ask because I'm on a Polo 1.9 TDI EDC15P I removed the fuse no.11 as required by the software.
Well, I think that if the problem was the fuse could not even read it.

if you have the one with the box next to try to disconnect the connector with the 2 screws and re-enter without the screw in the 2 screws.

I'm not certain the knock-out reliability? link, but in all other sectors use data cables very often
for? ever tighten or less the screws were decisive
