Reading Boot on many ECU includes the E2Prom and Flash and then a Backup of the ECU..
Serial-type EDC16 many tools to read the entire file and then complete and compatible with the BDM,but without the E2Prom ne MPC.
But and I say but always a good rule is to write with the instrument and the beds and not having any problems..

On units dated, type edc15,serial-read flash-in case you do not part the car with the problem ? the flash is corrupt or the cecksum wrong, correct it and write in the serial, but it is not up to rewrite for a restore.Backup you talk about when you retain the whole content of the ecu,it always depends on the ecu,a backup is also the e2prom and on the basis of the ecu-maybe you will find the micro, or maybe you can? not happen to find the flash why? is in the micro. You must distinguish the thing. There are special cases on the ecu's dating where you are allowed to do something in the boot and loads from the serial port, but on the bench. This ? what I know:
