You've probably wrong to change the string that operates the egr. I had a similar problem a few days ago with the MPPS v5 and I figured out the problem.

Basically when I open the file with the hex editor and go to look for the command line, it shows what you are interested in, click with the right mouse button and select overwrite, instead of erase and rewrite.
