    Problem checksum

    Hi,
today I tried to read the file of a car of a friend just to get to? I haven't even started reading it and already? are in difficulty? why? I opened MPPS I chose the model of the car in question, and there were two types of units I tried to read ECU ID of the two, and I did read only one where ? written if I'm not mistaken Checksum manually to the other was automatic then fear not knowing if I was doing damage to read or left to lose (even if I read in the forum that one should not do damage to read)Tomorrow when I see him again I would try for? I want to be more? prepared then I would need a little help ir? other clarifications:
1)I understand the mechanism in order to understand that the ECU mounts a vehicle?
2)do Not do damage to read the ECU?
3)Why? has the Checksum manually what does this mean?
4)Cos? the Checksum?(Even if good or bad, I understood that it serves to give a value of the bits of the ECU cio? if type ? wrong the machine will not correct me if I'm wrong)

Thanks to all for the availability? and the help that you give me

    Matthew

Like you said the same damage not do, but for help you should at least specify the car model and the control unit that mounts.

MPPS on edc 15 does not make the correction of the checksum automatically, that's why? warns you with red writing...Selections EDC15, in the car, and do the ecu ID, after that you start reading...The checksum you need to write...

MMM and I have not yet understood the operation of the checksum of that? as the calculation, or there are external programs to calculate it, however, the two reference numbers are :
    Bosch Hardware Number 0281010002

    Bosch Software Number 1037352211

    Thanks to all

The ECM calculates it, if you have the driver, otherwise with the mpps press the button, checksum,he makes you compare the original and the modified and save the new modified with gi? the calculated checksum

you for? the problem is that on MPPS on EDC 16 I said checksum to automatic instead on EDC 15 tells me I can't calculate it automatically
    Calculates the same?
Where can I find the driver of this machine for the ECM?

    Thanks
