CLK 220 CDI - Error 2321 - the car turns off while driving.

    Good evening to all,

as the title suggests you are struggling with a problem on my car, a Mercedes CLK 220 CDI Avantgarde 2006 with ECU Bosch 0281012340.

The car on a regular basis, but in a totally unexpectedly turns off while driving (but that has happened many times, even while he was parked and idling) for a few seconds and most of the times resumed without the need to turn off and then on the picture, at the same time the light comes on MIL.

The error that returns every time the diagnosis is:
2321 - Engine control Unit; program Error - Intermittent.

I checked the wiring and also of the SAM, the working voltages are OK, the masses, ditto.

I have already been to Mercedes where they have updated the ECU noting the fact that if the problem had reappeared they would replace the ecu.

I ask advice on what to check or how to proceed to replace the ECU.

    Thanks, greetings.

Should be a EDC16C2 and you clone safely in another ECU with the same HW BDM

in every way you have bought it from retailer or New

you could open up and give an eye to the welds, maybe some was not already perfect from the source, and skipped and by the failure in certain circumstances "temperature etc."

what can I say? and a company to find it with a little, and now maybe I don't know..

    Hello Cinqueturbo,

the ECU in question is that of the original vehicle, I already thought to open it to inspect the welds, but having never done this before I gave up when I saw that the sealant did not give in, (I also tried heating it) and I was afraid of doing damage, but at this point we might as well try.

With regard to the defect, there is a range of temperatures, usually after 10 to 15 minutes, sometimes, as already said, even at idle, it is completely random.

According to your experience could be a fault caused by a power surge?
I ask this because for various reasons the car remained on for several days to a stop and the battery has gone to "0", stupidly I did (I was far away home) to recharge the battery with a battery charger "traditional" (the classic transformer) without disconnecting it from the system to be able to bring it to a mechanic to replace clutch and flywheel, well by that time the car has started turning itself off.

those units give any problems on that type of car, my son happened to several routes. Even if you usually give problems starting... once so hard to turn off. Try to heat it with the hair dryer and see if the fault remains or vanishes.
