First of all what is the difference between Galletto 1260 and v54 (I assume that one is only OBD2 and the other has the tabs, but it is not clear) ?
On EDC16C39 through OBD2 you can do a TOTAL backup of both the e2prom and the eeprom and relative rewriting, or only partial?

Well. The differences are many. First of all, as you said one is bdm boot and jtag the other only obd. Drivers v54 are much more updated and is much more stable in writing

Definitely the most geek of the 1260, but complete in everything and for everything!
Then seen that to establish the question of driver, having Windows8.1 64bit (called system folder, not the case) I assume that v54 give less trouble to the 1260.. (I had problems even with elm327-china with the drivers as up-to-date was not going to be kicking in and I had to downgrade to make it stable and working).

I feel sorry for you but no Galletto will work with win8. anyway, I meant the driver for reading and writing is not the driver for the interface. I still recommend the v54, the 1260 is rubbish in comparison (comparable to a mpps).
