If you are talking about the ones that cost less than 100 euro on ebay don't have any software.... Only button to remove them and another on the body to change the"maps" internal,usually from 1 to 10...

You are right,better a good map from the ecu, but in the end when you go to touch the rail pressure do exactly the same thing form unless it conformed to the whole,( you have already? have good knowledge) .... However, the difference in the feel with the modules..
