The problem of butterfly valves on the intake manifold Alfa 159 150 HP

Hi everyone I need an opinion: last week we lit a failure on my 159, a check is made in the workshop they told me that the problem ? on the butterfly valve (the plastic ones), located on the intake manifold, it seems to me that the call SWIRL.
Given that a colleague of mine on the same car has spent around 2500? for the fault of those valves which are separated and arrive on a piston, I would like to know if you have any advice to avoid this.
In these cases ? fitting better metal ones or just remove them and change the map?
