recognize bosch ecus

Hello, I need your suggestion because I do not understand how to identify the different types of bosch ecus, for example, edc15 or edc16 because, unfortunately, are not the same as the marelli, which is written above 6f3 or another. For example, the other day I had to do a quick diagnosis for a stilo 1.9 120cv and them for them when they are entered in multiecuscan I had to choose between edc15 or edc16 and I entered in panic, I didn't know which one to choose!! But then, luckily, I remembered that that car was on a edc16.. little stuff I would have lost 2mins to do the test if the diagnosis I came with edc15 or edc16, but as well for personal culture, is there a way to distinguish them? for example, the initials of the codes or things like that? Or you must think with the year of the car and the hp of the original?

Hello Andrea, I am new to the forum and I was wondering just the same thing...I find myself to the hands of a control unit of a croma 1.9 mjt, which should be a edc 16 but not having the vehicle to make a diagnosis, how do I identify it? There is no one to help us?

it is of a fiat croma 1.9 how many hp? you can try and if my rule-of-thumb empirical works and then try the codes that you have on the ecu online and see if corrirsonde to the type of ecu

If I remember right it was a croma 1.9 mjt 120 horses, however, as time has passed and I'm not sure,and now I transcribe the Bosch code that is over. Should be the 0 281 012 961

ok then, being a 120 hp I think it is a edc16... now I try to fiddle around a bit in the network with the code that you gave me and see what jumps out

The rule for this ecu worked.. we'll see if others relate to this proposition

it is quite simple and seemingly silly, but if you notice all the fiat engine under 115hp including the 1.9jtd115 mountain edc15 while all of the engines, diesel means, with 120-140 0 150 hp mountain edc16. Now I don't know if the question can be similar to other car manufacturers as some of mercedes new and I have not touched another fiat

Hello if you want to see a ecu bosch you can go to the website of bosch-automotive-catalog and by entering the code on the ecu, or indicating the car will goes back to the ecu....test

if you put code bosch 0281...etc and go you ****** you makes it much easier to search!!!

there is a type mounted on a panel van renault which is identical to the edc16, also has the pitches bdm but does not connect, in fact many times it burns connettendola from them, I see to recover some photos that I have done, and then you place.

you're doing a bit of confusion, I wrote that that particular edc15 if the laws in bdm you can burn, all the others if the go to read on the serial line with a protocol wrong not the burn, because you're not the law, the only safe way remains to read the numbers and check in the data bank, bosch, and then a lot of experience, that serves and helps always.

I understand...so now I have a new question,Are in possession of a unit new that mounts on the 156 1.9 jtd 105 horses and then the first in the series and, therefore, edc15 right? I opened it because I wanted to use it as a truck maybe scodificandola to be able to try on a car of a friend, and I noticed that it does not have the contacts to the bdm as that of the chroma which I mentioned earlier, but if I remember well, only 8 people,and then not having the under hand I'm not sure but I was wondering if the bdm I have to connect them and if so what is the wiring diagram.thank you all in advance

the edc15 does not have the port BDM, for the scodifica do it on the flash.

And may I add that your edc15 you must have read in boot mode and perhaps you might be able to scodificarla via boot mode but I'm not sure! when you read the ecu selects in addition to a readout of all the ecu a reading of only the eeprom, maybe you can scodificarla even so without to unsolder and resolder.

Hi I have just checked on the galletto and boot mode does not give me any information of how to connect to the ecu...someone has a diagram and knows how to tell me how to proceed? Me boot instructions only for units petrol Fiat group and other that I can't remember... help!

if you want to read it in the tour, dissaldi the e2prom and then you can read scodificare and rewrite easily, and then use it.

From the site Bosch tells me that it is a EDC 15C7-2.16 .nothing can be done without desoldering the Eprom?

Andrea1 I open the ecu and as I said earlier, I found contacts different from the adc16 of the croma and if I remember correctly the contacts in this edc15 are only 8.when it comes to cock bdm edc15, I have found nothing,or much less, I have not found particulars regarding the same in the section boot mode of the cock. Then again they are in the very early weapons and I would not that I do not find them...maybe if someone can check I would be very can.maybe not call it edc 15 but otherwise on the rooster? Tomorrow from the PC, place the photo of the unit inside.

if you don't read the messages, it is useless that we continue, as I wrote in the message 22 the edc15 does not have the port BDM, not the pitches of communication, forgotten the BDM on this ecu, do a clean job, remove the e2prom on the under side (it takes 3 seconds) and then you can read write and use it as you like.

we don't need any programmer, the drop, and then you can read it and write it to the tour, because it is the e2prom which is blocking you at the counter , when it is on in the machine you do not have no problem because it is recognized by the code, the programmer is required if you want to reprogram the e2prom to make it virgin, but if you want to do a total make over flash.

many people say that putting it in the boot, the you can read, I have never succeeded, and honestly I do before I desolder, in any case, if you want to give you the pin on the comb to try, pin 1 ground, pin 4, and 58, power supply, pin 48 Kline, then put to ground the pin no 24 on the flash foods the unit aspects 2 seconds, and then remove the mass on the flash, at that point you should be in boo-mode, and you should read it, I repeat I have never succeeded.
