View The Full Version : To start from scratch
Hi guys,
as already written in the presentation are an enthusiast who has finally decided to try to ****llo operating in this beautiful adventure.
I have always watched with curiosity the world of the processing of the control units to which in time, I have tried to find some info.
In fact I have never managed to have a real guide to be able to focus on the things that are essential to be able to start to edit a mapping.
I have downloaded some software but I have not yet familiar with it the less I can understand which to use for what and which to use for other...
So I would like it if someone could give me some suggestion to be able to study and start to try processing....
we are here for this...what concerns you in particular?
Hello Munro! Thanks for the courteous reply. Well, imagine that you wanted to start to study something and to use some software. What you recommend me? I saw that there are dozens of software but I do not know which one to use . The file of the ecu I have them already but I would like to understand exactly what software to use and if you can't find any info on how to move all over the map. What to change what not, well some manual or guide which in a certain sense in guiding choices.
the sw is easier to use is the ecm is the 2001 that it is a little stale, now is the titanium that is the most...
the map3d is a good sw, but a bit cumbersome to use because of the driver...
sw there are many, however, and are more or less all the same thing...
then if you want the top there is winols, but it is really tough to use the species formed at the beginning..
You thanked. To tell you the truth, I started to make some test with Titanium. The difficulty that I found was in associate with the original mapping of the middle of the file relative to the driver which has in the database. Many are apparently the same as the name but it seems to me that something changes in some parameters.
if the file that you upload is original, the titanium can recognize the right drivers...
Always and anyway? I've got an archive of the original files, and I tried to upload to test some files (zip and RAR) but the Titanium has not given me the response right with the driver.

if the file is completely original you will always find him, and in any case, automatically the driver...
I'm sorry, but you are first uploading the file to the titanium extract it from the rar/zip right?

hello Munro, to tell you the truth, no...uploading the file in zip format it recognizes.
You say that it would be better to pull it out? which format should I let him read?
you have to load etraendolo daqualsiasi compression format....
the titanium file reads normal senzanessun strange format...
only reads the bytes of a map file....
Question: once I change the different maps in the ecu mapping, when I do the procedure to save the file to him, automatically I save in the file that has already prepared for the changes, right? Are you not going to save in the original file right?once saved you just have to transfer the file to the ecu with the available hardware, or do I have to do some other operation ?

You're running too.....it is not so simple if you don't want to harm you. in the meantime, you absolutely need to read the file from the ecu that you want to edit and find the number hw and sw, and inform you looking for in the forum if it is an ecu easily writable in the serial or if it needs a read and write with the other methods. Therefore choose the hardware most suitable to avoid blocks, ecu or other problems. Also a mapping badly done if you can write it easily can cause damage to the engine. Then you need to lose a bit of time and read the threads in the forum to get an idea of what to go to meet.
Ok. Thanks a lot for the tip.
But the.the question at this point is maybe stupid: but if I already have the original mapping, I can't find this info from the mapping that I already have? I need to find the info from.the mapping of the ecu on which I want to intervene? So not all of the hardware and the software available are able to intervene on all units?
for mapping the original do you mean the original file of your car?
if you read directly from the car or are you sure that it has the same numbers on the hardware and software, you can edit it(with full knowledge of what you're doing) and you can write...
the car in question, which codes for hw and sw has?
For mapping the original I mean those of the machine or even those that are present in the various databases found.
I have already allowed that my questions are trivial but I ask : where are the codes for the SW and hw? I like.do I know what they are ?

You have much less to do a id the ecu by connecting to your ecu to be sure of the numbers.

Ok . Perfect. But the id on the ecu I do it with titanium ?

The titanium as winols and other sw need to work the map and edit the file, but to read and write to this file you need to connect physically to the ecu.
Ok. Well. I read another post which speaks of the recognition of the data of ecu via galletto. Begins to be slowly more clear all....but the control unit must be installed in the vehicle for reading or can you work enable ?
Depends on the type of ecu anyway to the tour you are all the only drawback is that some are damned from the open and there is the possibility of internal breakage

ok. maybe I expressed bad talking about "disassemble". I meant better to say "remove from the car". once removed and taken to the bench and connected to the instrument, it is possible to do the same things that you can do when it is mounted ?

Hello guys....I am attaching here because they are a little in the same conditions of light.... I would like to begin to understand something well I....
Greetings Gaetano
I would also like to give info about reading editing and writing since I have been here for a little, and what little I know I would like to share it with you in order to contribute to the growth of the group.
For the reading and writing units which have many meorie, but for the most part that interested is the flash in which resides the memory to change to map, are used the following devices with the relevant management software: MPPS & GALLETTOv54
To edit the file you normally use: WinOLS - ECM-Titanium
For the monitoring of any abnormalities there are 2 ways lowcost: ELM327 and Delphi
I hope that these info is not to go offtopic are we against the regulation, are only directions to give "names" to correlate the research with ******.
Greetings
The id of the ecu do it with the equipment with which you want to read your ecu...x recognize the driver in the ecm of 2001, you need to read the last three digits are the hw and the self, them you are the driver
In the case of Titanium , it should find the drivers automatically...except in some special cases. ..hope that help. ..
Thanks andrea80 and I would add that the automatism of the titanium is bound by the origiarietà of the file.. he metcha only on the ORIGINAL files having a well-defined md5, by editing it loses that md5 and should be placed in the hand of the driver from the list for the categorization of the maps.
Be a computer consultant it is good in these cases, sin does not help to make maps, not having knowledge of good car mechanics.. mannagg...
X what you need to study and work on it a lot...
I'm reading as much as possible, including documentation, guides, data sheets, and anything else in the spare time with the work overwhelming and depressing!
we hope to understand something that I have come to dead spots with the mapping..
mapping out the drivers and values of bp is really a casino establish a load-synchronous between the different maps and determine the limiters but not impossible as I have understood and seen.
Luckily, this site has people with the ()() that give info as much as it serves the one whose entirely incorrect.
;)

thank you for the info...I'm off to try from here....
Thanks again

For that I can...about the mechanical... if you want I can give explanations...
A bag for my...although a small one, I have done over the years...
thank you.. as soon as I finished to study well the maps if you don't scocio I take advantage of it because they are not of the craft, and I have a lot of bugs in mechanics applied to the ecu
Thanks a thousand and also you if you still have questions do not make you problems, shoot them in burst mode..

Raga, I would like to make a request:
who me knows to explain why in the original map there are the drives and in that mod you lose this information?
You can insert the drive in the ECM T?
I'll explain..in the case of ecm, the driver recognizes the original map by the many things the hw, sw, and especially the checksum ... a map mod no longer has the same checksum, and therefore will never be recognized...I hope I explained.
Also if you are talking about software to edit the map, not the original, you can't insert the drivers...
As no the driver can manually choose, simply click on the button driver below and choose the right one if you know the hw and sw
I didn't mean to choose it manually....I was talking of inserting the driver in the ecm t .... you can if the software is not original. I meant that
Thanks Andrew now I get it.
But if I choose the driver manually, I could modify the mod files?
site slightly malicious.. but there anticchia..
Hi guys,
I am a fan who has finally decided to try to ****llo operating in this adventure.I have always watched with curiosity the world of the processing of the control units to which in time, I have tried to find some info.
but in reality I have never managed to have a real guide to be able to focus on the things that are essential to be able to start to edit a mapping.so, being the first experience I would like to know which product is most suitable for me considering that I have seen to say enough is enough in the trade, and where could I find them reassuring me that they work well regardless of whether they are clones or not
popi, I would like to know the difference between k-tag and kess and galletto etc thanks a lot
Welcome, then, the Kess lets you read and write most ECUS in circulation by OBD instead of the K-tag is a device for reading and writing in the BDM that is, with a special system of pins that apply to ****th e hardware on the card mother of the ECU on the bench. This is what I can tell you about these devices in my possession. Good forum
hello quill, thanks a lot x me explained the differences of various appliances ,but being a beginner such as m should buy for will notice this start to use and chew everything ??the kiedo you seen and considered that m did you just write that you are the owner of both tools thanks
I would recommend the kess, meanwhile, to begin with, and you have a great experience... Then with the software attached on their computers and ECM Titanium, you can read and modify the maps and then rewrite them in the ECU. I suggest you buy everything from who can provide you with assistance, at least for the first few months, otherwise you may have a lot of problems. Not to mention the damage you could cause to the ECU of our customers and friends...
the sleeve for this I'm going to come with feet of lead x knowing that d-type product to buy, and especially as you say you someone that t follows I do not say step by step but at least if you have some difficulties ,because in turn it sells everything and more ..but then you have to see what and how you give them ...if you know indicarme you or some other here on the site someone serious where you can buy these various products, and give you a minimum d assistance
Depends on what kind of activities you have to do, ****llo amateur there are the chinese clones of these devices, but to assistance you find a little... Then there are the official resellers or partners that you offer the formula, slave and cioèti selling the devices to read and write to the ECU and make you their edit of the map, you then read and write down their directions, and give you online credit for the devices that after a certain number of reads and writes are in need of a kind of charging.
Logical costs are totally different...
I could also start a "like very much playing " but in all cases, having an activity x on my own then I have tried d doing it as a job and then be independent from everything and everyone ,maybe at the beginning you will be following the right x to understand ìwhat start to chew the whole thing then once you have taken some hand and see how it goes, what I decide also deal with the expenses and make a coso d x training to be able to do it all alone
For mapping the original I mean those of the machine or even those that are present in the various databases found.
I have already allowed that my questions are trivial but I ask : where are the codes for the SW and hw? I like.do I know what they are ?
find them when you connect with the interface to read the ECU. I use the galletto v54, and when I connect I do have the ID of the car and them it tells me the code for HW and SW.
Thanks Andrew now I get it.
But if I choose the driver manually, I could modify the mod files?
of course you can. we bring you a practical example: I use ECM titanium, which I already have several drivers on (in case you do not have them you can buy with the credits making the request). When I loaded my first map for me automatically recognized, when I modified it and tried to recharge it, not me recognized it more automatic, I had to choose the driver manually by choosing the make, model, and from them you from the list of car available and you go to choose your. When you change it and then load the driver manually, you score with the flag, the portions of the maps that you went to change. As soon as I can I'll give you a screenshot that you are more clear to understand.
Thanks Andrew now I get it.

The recognition of ECM is bound by the MD5 of the file's unique file ORI, by changing it you change the MD5 and the automatic recognition goes to the wayside.
Each file has its own MD5, no file has the same.. digitally impossible. (downloaded winmd5 and see with your eyes... it is opensource).
Thanks clumsy, the explanation is clear enough, I followed but the drivers that load are all unpacked, with several values out... Should I find a map that we like, I guess...
Ok Tranky, now I try to search for it
I downloaded the program, I opened the mod files and I found a code checksum current, now what should I do?
In the pane below it tells me to paste the code to verify, but nothing.
Thanks clumsy, the explanation is clear enough, I followed but the drivers that load are all unpacked, with several values out... Should I find a map that we like, I guess...
Why do you say that they are differents? What do you see? Can you tell me which ECU it is? With more info maybe we can help a little more... ☺
Reggiti strong... It's like a megane 3 1.5 and the ecu is a sid305, I opened a new post in beginners. If you want the info you find there. So if you can help me I write there. Thanks anyway
Tranky, can you explain that program winmd5?
Of course..
Does not refer to the tuning but the computer.
In practice any file has a "plate" unique, comparable to a macaddress of a network card, which are unique in global form.
ECM has in his belly the result of the md5 of all the gold that has the driver and metcha self recognition.
I hope I was clear
https://it.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checksum
I hope not to be out of regulation with the link but purposes only not-for-profit
So I can only read it, but you can not change? ECM changes when we save the modified map?
Of course you can change it but once you change you change the md5, and therefore opening it up with ECM's***** the self recognition of the driver as the ECM recognizes him from that factor, having in "belly" is the unique string for that driver on that model.
For the rest, knowing already starting hw and sw, you can upload it manually by finding it in the database of the ECM.
To better understand take a test..
Open any file golds that ECM finds you the driver drive.. Copy it on the desktop and you will see that the 2 files have the same md5.
Open the copy with the hex and change a single bit, and save the modified file.
If you redo the md5 you will see that the changes and in that case, them the ECM will not recognize it longer in the car.
Very good, nice explanation, do a bit of test-tubes and tell you.Grz
Hi guys even I am starting from the basics...I've already done work on the units...at the beginning I had a friend who modified the file then I started to try it alone with the machines and more ordinary to say given that I have done 1 training course..then peo for 1 good year I quit and now I am point and ****...can I ask you information?
A file must be uploaded to the software in their integrity, without compression, rar, etc
Hello to all from the time I wanted to immerse myself in this world, I finally decided...
I have many questions for you but let's start with calm...
I'm a mechanical engineer with a passion for engines.
Well I end up with my description, and I begin to ask a few questions just to start...
I bought the galletto v54 can read and write on the ecu...
Well, I arrived today that I need to do to begin with???
Is there any step by step guide to begin with?
Once you have read the map(which I still don't know how to do) how can I change it?
Once you have changed the rewrite?
Thanks to all for any replies...
Sorry if you break a bit...
PS: congratulations for the site is outstanding and full of competent people.....

First of all, what car did you as the first guinea pig? It would be better if you never did anything to have an ecu used as a forklift to make tests
Hi thanks for the reply, as a guinea pig I have my 307 1.6 hdi 90cv
Hello to all, once you read the file from the ecu what program to use to edit the file???
Thanks hello

Have read it already or you still need to read? If so do a search to see which is the best tool to read that machine. I think it's risky to do it by the serial if you don't have the right tool.

I have yet to read, I like the tool galletto v54.
I can read via obd???
try to read it and compare the md5 of the file ori.
Is the ecu you should be able to read it by obd with the cock!!

I'll try in the week...
