View The Full Version : The difference between serial and bdm
Hi guys, as the title suggests, what are the differences between reading in the bdm, and a serial port, what does this mean if I once read in bdm, then I read on the serial line can I change the rewrite and the ecu I get stuck:confused:, I can rewrite it in the bdm cannot take back, sorry for the confusion, I hope that I have understood, greetings Gianfranco.

In the meantime, let's clarify :
do the reading total bdm (flash , micro , seprom)
then you can do what you want
to the maximum restores all
the difference between reading the obd and bdm in the suitable, and that in the obd not read all of the content
then do not read the mico , and seprom (key code ,frame fitting, etc, etc encoding injectors km paths, etc.).
regards
Ok, I understand, I have to make a copy in the bdm of my two-machine hello and thanks again faberecu, good make.

I believe you can also read the flash in the bdm and rewrite, then a second time with the serial.
For example, reading bdm (only flash) write gallo serial.
understood, but if the ecu stops responding in writing to the serial, I have to unsolder the eprom to rewrite, or just connect to the ecu bdm and rewrite the whole thing, and good night. YOU ARE GREAT.;)

If it is blocked, you need the bdm and rewrite everything.
Precisely in serial would remain locked.
we clarify that not all the units you can read in the bdm.
Okay, but most of the units can be read out ,to me is for my and a few friends, I do not for work, I am the programmer of the plc.
Gianfranco.
that machines have to do.

Watch then if you have to take c'? the list of cars supported, just look for the network and will adjust accordingly. Maybe you should take a Rooster v2...

on this hypothesis, I would appreciate a confirmation,I always read the ecu in the bdm and the first change I make in the bdm but I never wanted to reprogram the file bdm in the obd...

then there are units that can be read in bdm others that do not have the plots for the bdm and you have to unsolder, reading with the bdm as I have said read the whole backup of the control unit, then whatever you do, you can restore the situation, you board in the control units and more particularly such as bmw always do a backup before the scriptures, the serial if you're not equipped or prepared in the field in order to avoid spending 1500? for a new ecu in the bmw,for the rest of the flash read in bdm, you can almost always write in the serial and you can try making the experience so much, as I said, once you have done the backup, you can always go back while vice versa is not you can do that if not in rare cases, so I would say not to try your luck.
